Bodega Amalaya
results 1-1 of 1
Where most saw nothing more than the rugged landscape of the high desert, Donald Hess saw the potential for great wines. Here, in Argentina’s Calchaqui Valley in the northwest province of Salta, the continuing commitment of Hess Family Estates is found in Amalaya, joining Bodega Colome as singular expressions of Calchaqui Valley, in the heart of Argentina’s greatest wine growing region. Among the indigenous people who have called the Calchaqui Valley home for centuries, Amalaya translates as Hope For a Miracle. From the sparse desert climate the miracle arrives with the flourishing of exceptionally flavorful and complex grapes which allow winemakers to craft wines of distinction, worthy of this special place. Amalaya’s new home features a modern winery and a trio of vineyards, each with distinct soils and micro-climates that produce compelling fruit, leading to exceptional wines. Each vintage, the winemakers craft wines featuring blends that capture the essence of Amalaya, including an Amalaya Tinto, an Amalaya Blanco and the Amalaya Gran Corte.
