St. Hallet from the Barossa has made my favorite Australia list for the past two years. Their line of wines across the board are all very nice, the poachers and the gamekeepers blends for the money are top picks not to be missed out on.
Every Poacher needs a Gamekeeper! Typical of traditional Barossa red blends, St Hallett Gamekeeper’s Reserve is packed with Shiraz and Grenache and matching the uniqueness of the Poacher’s blend it includes tiny proportion of Touriga Nacional giving it a floral and spice finish.
St Hallett is dedicated to translating the tapestry of soils and meso-climates of the Barossa in each of its wines. This is made possible by a rich resource of old vines, long-term relationships with growers and the winemakers’ experience and intimate approach to each individual parcel of fruit from the vineyard, through the winery to the final wine. Evolution and innovation, in the pursuit of excellence has been a consistent thread running through St Hallett’s history. Proudly Barossan, St Hallett makes wines which are recognised around the world as benchmarks of the region.
