Two Oceans wine takes its name from the two oceans that converge at the Cape of Good Hope, the warm Indian and the chilly Atlantic. Two Oceans’ winemaker Thinus Kruger works closely with a team of viticulturists under the direction of Bennie Liebenberg to source all their grapes from premier vineyards within the Cape’s Coastal region, where a temperate climate prevails.
Vineyards are cooled in summer by day-time maritime breezes from both oceans. Overnight the ambient temperature drops, which allows the grapes to ripen slowly developing intense flavors.
The grapes making this wine were sourced from bush and trellised vineyards in the Stellenbosch, Paarl, Malmesbury, Wellington and Worcester areas. The vines are grown at altitudes of between 50m and 180m above sea level. The grapes were harvested by hand at 24° and 25°. The juice was fermented on the skins for four days to allow for maximum color and flavor extraction. Upon completion of malolactic fermentation the wine was matured in new French oak for a period of three months.
