Steve Tanzer 92 points (Jul 2009) Inky purple. Dense, brooding aromas of dark berry skin, cherry pit and cassis, with notes of black cardamom and licorice gaining strength with air. Chewy blackberry and bitter cherry flavors are framed by solid tannins and brightened by notes of black pepper and Asian spices. Fresher and more red-fruity on the finish, which echoes the spicy notes. Give this backward wine some cellar time.
