| Wine maker notes |
| Considered the heart of winemaking in Argentina, Mendoza has the confluence of extreme characteristics that create distinct flavors in its fruit. Towered by the snow-capped Andes Mountains and rooted in poor alluvial soils, the grapes develop an intensity of color and flavors alongside soft, plush tannins. The Merlot grapes were sourced from various subregions within Mendoza, including the Uco Valley, Agrelo and Lujan de Cuyo.
Grapes for our Merlot were hand harvested in the cool hours of day and brought to the winery, where they were placed in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. For maximum extraction of flavors and aromas, the wine was pumped-over daily, keeping the skins and juice in constant contact. The wine was aged in partial French oak for approximately 12 months, imparting structure and sweet baking spices to the final wine. |
