Steve Tanzer 89+ points (Jul 2009) Deep ruby. Pungent aromas of red and dark berry skin, smoked meat, anise and cherry pit. Chewy, deeply concentrated cherry and blackcurrant flavors are a bit unforthcoming today, with notes of candied flowers and smoky minerals adding complexity. The finish repeats the cherry pit note and lingers with very good persistence. This could use another couple of years in the cellar.  Steve Tanzer 91 points (Jul 2009) Inky ruby. Rich aromas of cherry compote, black fruits, licorice, rose, espresso and tobacco. Impressively sweet, velvety and concentrated, conveying a very ripe impression to its bitter cherry and cassis flavors. For all its density, though, this blend manages to retain vibrancy. Finishes with very good tangy cut and sweet persistence.
