Alta Vista Alto 2007

Alta Vista Alto 750ml 2007
Sku: 1704984

1 day lead-time required to confirm availability Why?

Alta Vista’s iconic wine, represents the benchmark among Argentine wines, crafted from the highest quality grapes from small vineyard parcels with low yields. Hand-picked grapes go through a double selection process on a sorting table. Alto is vinified in small, epoxy-lined concrete tanks which allow a gentle, precise vinification and extraction of polyphenols to produce an elegant wine. It is aged 14 months in new French oak barrels and at least 12 months in bottle.

Densely packed, but ripe, lush and inviting, with unabashed licorice, plum sauce, melted fig and boysenberry fruit flavors that glide over hints of spice and mocha. The long, velvety finish pumps out the fruit in spades, with a loamy edge to keep it all honest. Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2011 through 2015. 1,572 cases made.-JM

(15% alcohol; a blend of 70% malbec and 30% cabernet; aged for 18 months in new French oak): Saturated bright ruby. Blackberry, licorice, bitter chocolate and menthol complemented by sexy, sweet oak tones on the nose. Plush and broad but with a distinct herbal edge and firm acids giving shape to the fine-grained dark berry fruit. Very rich but less sweet than the 2009 Terroir Selection malbec. Began with slightly drying tannins but harmonized nicely with air.
Wine Advocate 92 points (Dec 2010)
The 2007 Alto is a blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% new French oak. Purple/black in color with an alluring nose of sandalwood, exotic spices, black cherry, lavender, and black plum, on the palate it displays opulence, considerable power accompanied by finesse. It has enough structure to evolve for several years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2027.
